The most serious incident during the 2012 MVPA Alaska Highway Convoy occurred between the Canadian border and Chicken, Alaska.

A convoy driver got in some loose sand on the edge of the gravel road, and the M416 trailer pulled their M151 off into the barrow ditch, rolling the MUTT upside down. Several things worked in their favor: They were traveling about 15 miles per hour (convoy speed for those conditions), they were wearing their seat belts, and the back of the MUTT was filled to the canvas cover with camping gear and spare parts. They were able to exit the vehicle with just bumps and bruises. Mark Sigrist
