Oshkosh Defense showcases for National Guard conference

Oshkosh Defense featured its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) and a full range of vehicle modernization and training services at the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) Conference on Sept. 10-12 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

"The National Guard's unique role as homeland protectors, emergency responders, and fighting forces to defend our national interests requires soldiers to train for many missions, while maintaining a wide variety of vehicle and equipment platforms." said Pat Williams, Oshkosh Defense vice president of U.S. Army and Marine Corps programs. "Oshkosh is honored to serve the National Guard by offering a comprehensive portfolio of vehicles, modernization, maintenance, and training services to help the National Guard optimize the operation readiness of over 350,000 troops across the country."

At NGAUS 2016, Oshkosh showcased the JLTV, which is the next generation light tactical vehicle that was selected by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps to replace armored HMMWVs. The Oshkosh JLTV provides a reliable vehicle at new levels of protected mobility in a highly transportable and configurable package to perform missions “outside the wire” and bring troops back safely. The JLTV displayed is outfitted with an EOS R-400S-MK2 remote weapon system integrated with Orbital ATK's M230 LF 30 mm lightweight automatic chain gun to demonstrate the vehicle’s ability to support increased lethality including a medium caliber weapon system.

"The JLTV is the most capable light tactical vehicle ever built, providing our troops with the payload, performance and protection they need for current and future battlefields." said Williams. “At Oshkosh, we know that there is nothing more important than enabling our troops to complete their missions and get home safely. That’s why we designed the JLTV to support a wide range of mission equipment including advanced command and control, communications, computing systems, as well as higher caliber weapons systems.”
