Rust-Free Relics

A native of Winnemucca, Nevada, 72-year-old Stan Rorex fully intended to join the Army with his buddies in the 1960s. A childhood leg injury left him “4F.” So, instead of joining the Army, Stan joined the Winnemucca Police Department, from which he recently retired as Chief of Police.

Stan always had a passion for history and began collecting anything related to his favorite vehicle— the M3 Half-track. During the 1970s and 1980s, he snapped up every piece that came available — usually paying just scrap prices.

The vehicles have been resting in the Nevada sun for decades. Though there is no rust, every seal seems to have certainly dried out. No, they are not for sale. In fact, Stan is still accumulating! He recently bought a display BREN machine gun to mount on one of his half-tracks for the local Fourth of July. I just thought it would be interesting for our readers to see that there are still some hoards of military hardware still out there!
