KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National WWI Museum and Memorial presents the annual Taps at the Tower with a new schedule this year. Join them for three nights from Sunday, June 16 – Tuesday, June 18, 2024. At sunset (8:45 p.m.), gather at the Liberty Memorial Tower to experience Taps being played during a brief, moving ceremony. The event will occur rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Paul Sunderland Bridge inside the Museum and Memorial.

Calling all seasoned makers and the craft-curious! The Museum and Memorial’s second Makers Social takes place on Thursday, June 13 at 5:30 p.m. Imbibe in an evening of history, handcrafts and hors d'oeuvres as the program illoominates the vibrant legacy of wartime artistry with Kansas City’s creative community. Guests will have the opportunity to learn and make their own crafts. Already working on a project? Bring it! This is knot your typical happy hour. All levels and interests welcome.

June’s Day in the Life event will focus on the experiences of soldiers who fought beyond the Western Front. Guests will have the opportunity to closely view and ask questions about non-accessioned WWI objects. Other June programs highlight new special exhibition, Sacred Service, and the featured exhibition, The Little War.
