Visit the History Center on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, for the final chance to see the WW1 America exhibit. Veterans and active military get free admission.
In addition, the History Center is offering a special program at 10:30 a.m. to honor Armistice Day, the day hostilities ended on the Western Front during WW1. Dave Logsdon, president of Veterans for Peace Chapter 27 Minneapolis, will speak about Armistice Day and the Kellogg-Briand Pact, which was a promise by the signatories not to use war to resolve disputes which had their origins in WW1. In the United States, Armistice Day became a national holiday in 1938 and in 1954 it was renamed as Veterans Day to honor all US Veterans. At 11 a.m., members of the Veterans for Peace organization will ring bells 11 times in remembrance of the 11th month, 11th day, and 11th hour of 1918 when the armistice took effect.
