Morphy firearms sale set for July 30-31

DENVER, Pa. _ Morphy Auctions' next ine firearms sales event will be held on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.. All lots from this upcoming July sale are on display in Morphy's Denver auction gallery and available for preview now.

Almost 300 fine examples of modern rifles are on offer. Lot #184, an exhibition grade engraved Marlin 1895, is the top gun in this category. This lever action rifle was assembled in 1906 and engraved by master artisan Conrad Ulrich Jr. with a pattern introduced in 1900. Lot #346, a cased Cogswell & Harrison London .400 Express Rifleis unusual in its design as its bolt handle is reversed and opens and closes at the barrel breech.

Collectors will also certainly have their sights on two special modern Winchester rifles. The first, lot #347, is an unusual lever action Winchester Model 64 rifle manufactured between 1942 and 1948. And the second is lot #362, a custom deluxe engraved Winchester Model 55.

Antique rifles are also old favorites among enthusiasts. Lot #281 is a documented, untouched Civil War Henry Repeating Rifle manufactured in 1863 and belonged to Gideon Perry Jolly of Hardinsburg, Ky. He was member of the home guard during the Civil War. It is accompanied by a letter of provenance from his family, as well as four-piece oak and nickel cleaning rod.

More than 260 revolvers and pistols will be offered. Lot #301 is an all original boxed Smith &Wesson Second Model single shot pistol. It was only manufactured from 1905 to 1909.

There will also be Colt revolvers available. Highlights include lot #315,a Colt Single Action Army revolver with ivory grips and Helfricht style engraving, and lot #319, an engraved and silver plated Colt First Generation Single Action Army revolver.

The sale will feature more than 160 antique handguns. Lot #247 is one of the finest and most ornate French revolvers to come out of the gun shop of Gastinne Renette Paris, the official supplier to Napoleon III and the Imperial Court. It may have been manufactured for one of the Salon exhibitions in Paris in the 1880s.

Swords, medals and badges, military ephemera, uniforms and helmets, bayonets, and other unusual firearms, including lot #137, a rare Luger Model 1902 Carbine and lot #371, a Mauser combination rifle by P. Oberhammer, round out this targeted firearms auction event.
