Montrose Auction is gearing up for their May 11th Firearms auction

Montrose to host exciting May 11 auction of top-tier sporting, military and civilian firearms by sought-after European and American manufacturers. A sample of the featured auction pieces: Caesar Guerini Invictus II shotgun with Giovanelli engraving; Blaser, Cogswell & Harrison and Browning shotguns; Colt and Smith & Wesson pistols, Winchester + other rifles.

MONTROSE, Ga. – The word is out about Montrose Auction, the Southeast’s number one destination for honest, expertly evaluated sporting, military and personal firearms. Following a March 16 live auction that attracted hundreds of new bidders to the Montrose collector community, the Georgia auction house got right to work preparing a selection for their May 11 sale that’s sure to please. In all, the auction includes 550 lots of outstanding rifles, shotguns and handguns, as well as ammunition and accessories. Those who cannot attend in person are encouraged to bid absentee, by phone, or live via the Internet through Montrose Live or a choice of four other trusted online platforms.

Some very fine sporting shotguns will cross the auction block, starting with a Caesar Guerini Invictus II 12-gauge over/under with a 32-inch barrel. It is engraved in a beautiful rose-and-scroll motif with elaborate gold overlay and is signed by the engraving studio, Bottega C. Giovanelli, on its underside. Cesare Giovanelli, founder of Bottega C. Giovanelli, is regarded as the godfather of gun-engraving in Brescia, Italy, a city in the Alpine foothills where several workshops practice their world-class artistry. The Giovanelli brand is particularly well known for its complex patterns and hand-finishing. The Guerini shotgun to be sold by Montrose comes with a spotless factory case and full complement of choke tubes and tools. It is in “as-new” overall condition and shows little or no use.

Another top highlight is a Blaser F16 game-grade 12-gauge over/under shotgun manufactured in 2022. It has a blue finish, single selective trigger, checkered pistol-grip walnut stocks, and an interchangeable choke system. It is described as being in “nearly new” condition and mechanically excellent. House in a factory case, it also retains all of its factory paperwork and tools.

Cogswell & Harrison Optimum English-inspired 12ga over/under shotgun. Checkered pistol grip stock of highly figured Turkish walnut. Side-plated coin-finished receiver deeply relief-engraved with Gothic broad scrolls. Monogrammed on both sides. Housed in factory luggage case with instructions, sleeves. Possibly never used. English inspired, a Cogswell & Harrison Optimum 12-gauge over/under shotgun has a checkered pistol grip stock of highly figured Turkish walnut and a side-plated, coin-finished receiver that is deeply relief-engraved with Gothic broad scrolls. It is monogrammed on both sides with the manufacturer’s full name. This gun presents “as new” and is possibly unused. It comes with its correct factory luggage case with all instructions and travel sleeves.

Browning B25 B2G 12ga over/under shotgun, produced in Belgium, game scenes crisply engraved and signed ‘J. Recule.’ Blue-finished (97%) barrel, Teaque interchangeable choke with 7 tubes and wrench. Every experienced sportsman knows the Browning name. The revered Belgian company launched in 1889 with an order to manufacture 150,000 Mauser Model 89 rifles for the Belgian government and has never looked back. Montrose will offer collectors the opportunity to bid on a Browning B25 B2G 12-gauge over/under shotgun with a single selective trigger with ejectors, a blue-finished (97%) barrel and a Teaque interchangeable choke with 7 tubes and a wrench. The shotgun is crisply engraved with scenes of pheasants and ducks and signed by the engraver: J. Recule. It is in very fine condition with excellent action, locks and bores.

From the legendary American company Smith & Wesson comes a .22lr Straight Line Target Pistol with 97% blue finish and a 10-inch barrel marked 22 LONG RIFLE and SMITH & WESSON. It has a Patridge front sight and Outdoorsman target rear sight, and is housed in a French-fitted steel carry case with a large S&W monogram.

Colt National Match .38 Special Mid-Range Automatic Pistol manufactured in 1971. Blue-finished with Elliason adjustable rear sight and factory Patridge front sight. Initially made for US Army marksmanship team and later offered commercially to other National Match shooters. Retains original (shop-worn) woodgrain box with numbers-matching test target, and takedown tools. As-new condition. Montrose Auctions

Colt fans won’t overlook a 1971 blue-finished National Match .38 Special Mid-Range Automatic Pistol with an Elliason adjustable rear sight and factory Patridge front sight. This model was initially made for the US Army marksmanship team and was later offered commercially to other National Match shooters. It retains its original (shop-worn) woodgrain box with a numbers-matching test target and takedown tools.

Winchester 94AE Lever Rifle, .44 mag, with cross-bolt safety and deluxe checkered walnut stocks. Manufactured in 2007. Mechanically excellent with very fine metal and stocks. Montrose Auctions

One example, a 2007 .44 mag Winchester 94AE Lever Rifle with a cross-bolt safety and deluxe checkered walnut stocks is assessed as being mechanically excellent with very fine metal and stocks.There’s also a Remington 700 CDL (Classic Deluxe) cal. 270 Win bolt rifle up for sale. It has a varnished, checkered pistol grip stop with a pistol grip cap and drop magazine floorplate 5-round magazine with Limbsaver recoil pad. It’s nearly new with Weaver scope bases showing little or no use, a bright bore and good mechanics.
