In May 2018, President Donald Trump awarded retired Navy Master Chief Britt K. Slabinski the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions while leading a Joint Task Force during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan.
On March 25, 2019 (National Medal of Honor Day) Sig Sauer unveiled a specially-designed commemorative P226 pistol to honor Slabinski's receipt of the the nation's highest award for valor. This was the same pistol that SEALs carried under the official MK25 designation.
According to a Sig Sauer news release, the company presented Slabinski with a special MK25 pistol in a private ceremony at its headquarters in Newington, New Hampshire.
The slide of the customized MK25 is finished in high polish. The frame features the standard matte black finish. All of the pistol's engraving is done in 24-karat gold. The right side of the slide is engraved with the first line of the Medal of Honor Citation, "For Service As Set Forth" and "CMH Recipient Britt Slabinski."
Engraving on the top of the slide includes a depiction of the Medal of Honor on a raised piece of metal recovered from the World Trade Center, and six stars representing Slabinski's SEAL unit. "No Day Shall Erase You from the Memory of Time," is engraved on the left side.
The custom grips are made of American black walnut. The Red Unit Medallion of Slabiniski's SEAL team highlights the right grip and the SEAL Trident adorns the left.
To complement the release, Sig Sauer also unveiled a brief documentary recounting Slabinski's years of service. It can be seen at: https://youtu.be/wIrMfsOo8tY
