A design has been chosen for a new World War I memorial in Washington.

According to the World War I Centennial Commission's website, the group has chosen a design by sculptor Sabin Howard of New York City and architect Joseph Weishaar of Chicago.

The design called, “ The Weight of Sacrifice” will include 137-foot-long walls engraved with quotes from service members and a progression of 23 relief sculptures depicting the transformation from civilians into war-weary soldiers.

The construction is scheduled to begin on Veteran’s Day 2017 at Pershing Park along Pennsylvania Avenue.
