Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of one of the Nation’s largest WWII training camps in North Carolina, Camp Butner on Sept. 22 & 23. Opened in 1942, Camp Butner trained over 40,000 troops on a 40,000-acre military training facility. Now, the history of the Camp is incorporated throughout the Town of Butner.
The event kicks-off on Friday, September 22 at 6:00 PM. The Butner Soldiers Memorial Sports Area will come to life with a social, dinner & USO style entertainment. ($25/ticket) On September 23 at 10 AM, view a parade along Central Ave, hear Military Dignitaries and a Camp Butner Historian reflect upon the Camp’s history, visit reenactment camps, tour historic Camp Butner sites and more.
