Questions arose about the identities of two men in the iconic WWII picture of raising the flag over Iwo Jima.
The Marines have opened an investigation over the identities of the men who were in the picture after historians had determined that one of the men in the picture was an unidentified Marine.
According to an AP article, the panel found that Private First Class Harold Schultz, of Detroit, was in the photo and that Navy Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Class John Bradley wasn't in the image. Bradley had participated in an earlier flag-raising on Mount Suribachi.
